  1. At a guess, I’d say connect the white wire from the pickup to the tag with the red wire coming off of it.
  2. Always like the feel of the Kahler over the other systems; good choice.
  3. Ooh, good thinking. This is a DIY product that's available all over the place. https://www.rainx.co.uk/rain-x-products/rain‑x-windscreen-repair-kit/
  4. That’s not good, or right. Name and shame (both Thomann andUPS) on the socials until they rectify the issue. Welcome, BTW.
  5. Hmm, seems unlikely. Only one way to tell.
  6. I remember when the 5:25 first came out, the reviewers were all raving about it, it sounded ace in demos as I recall. Hang onto to that bad boy, now Gibson have their claws into Mesa, there’s a good chance it’ll be like a pre CBS Fender.
  7. As a teenager, my drummer buddy kept his kit at my flat (the neighbours loved me). For a time I think I was a good of a drummer as he was. These days, I’m as good as every audience member who thinks they can play.
  8. Another one ‘hops the fence’; welcome. Love that Strat.
  9. Nice!
  10. Hi Lucas and welcome. Best motivation I have found is a new band/project, although given the current situation we find ourselves in, this will prove difficult. However, there is another motivational route that I have almost as effective and sometimes even better - a new guitar! Or a new amp, pedal, whatever. Preferably something quite different to anything you currently have, the difference will make approach things from another angle.
  11. Blues Saraceno, I remember him and the guitar.
  12. OK, I’m going to be following this. Bring it on. I really like that body shape.
  13. I understand that learning good manicure technique is important (only filing in one direction, etc) and using quality files (Andy Summers uses a diamond one IIRC). Using clear coat nail varnish and building up the layers should help. I think I read somewhere that a renowned fingerstyle player uses stick on nails. I try to grow mine, but they tend to flake (I don’t do any of the above) and I’m not keen on the sound of them on bass, so they stay short like @Skinnyman’s.
  14. Any of those would work nicely. However, it it were me, I’d go for the Katana as it offers all the modelling and effects you might want, has the headphones out you’ll be using most of the time, but will also give the option of going fully amplified (at different levels) if you want to ‘feel’ what you’re playing or if suddenly you want to jam with others.
  15. Lots of Basschatters here.
  16. Doesn’t work for me at all. It’s an answer to a problem that nobody has and is an ergonomic nightmare. If someone is a massive JH fan, they’ll buy a white, left handed (or right handed if you’re a lefty) Strat from the Fender stable of brands. “Why?” is my knee jerk reaction.
  17. That’s a very cool looking guitar. Loving the Casino in the background too.
  18. At those prices they’re going to be good guitars. I’d probably go for the one I liked the look of best, as tone and playability should be top notch.
  19. Ooh, another build thread; goodo.
  20. Ooh, hello, pretty.
  21. Most tuning issues are due to badly cut nuts and dodgy bridges. If these are spot on, then locking tuners can only make it even more stable and make string changing breeze. However, if your nut and bridge are not right, locking tuners will just seem like a waste of money. I’m a big fan of Bigsby trems and fitted a Gretsch I once had with locking tuners and a roller bridge, yes they helped, but they didn’t cure the inherent ’wayward’ nature of the Bigsby, I just learnt to work with it. Now a Fender Strat trem is a much more stable beast and you can get them to behave much better, but I would recommend doing things in a logical order, locking tuners being down the list a ways. Right then, that’s the sensible talk out of the way. You want to buy a nice, new, high spec guitar? You are amongst friends, do what makes you happy, we love a bit Gear Acquisition Syndrome, especially when it’s accompanied by photos.
  22. Get a reputable luthier/tech to service and set up your current guitar. I’m pretty handy in this department but I recently had a guy at Guitar Guitar do a full service and set up on my Epiphone due to a few raised and scratched frets (beyond my abilities); what a difference! It now plays absolutely brilliantly and seems a bargain at £70 (IIRC).
  23. Welcome. Joining a forum is a pretty good way to start. Although learning all on your own, finding someone who can guide you personally (remotely is fine) will help immensely.
  24. If that had been my first guitar, I’d have been well chuffed.
