  1. Hi guys, I'm very slowly working my way through Fender Play's blues track. Upcoming (and optional) lessons involve using a capo. Beginner question: Are all capos pretty much the same? Looking at images, some look to have "teeth" to better grip the neck but the last thing I'd want to do is buy one that's a bit on the tight site and it chews into the fat neck of my 339. I'm sure there are branded ones for like £30 or whatever, but otherwise are run-of-the-mill £10-ish ones all much the same? Is there such thing as a "bad" capo? Cheers!
  2. Hi, Will start saying am currently using ableton live 9 suite on a pc (which is getting changed to a mac when I get my old one back later today) and through a first gen focusrite scarlett 2i2 (latest drivers checked and installed) connected to the out on my old marshal MG 30DFX connected straight to my epiphone les Paul standard. So have been trying to record some of my guitar in to my computer to make parts for songs or even to just play along to a drum track I have made but getting really frustrated as every time I play just one note out of the computer it plays then has a louder sounding repeat about half a second later like there is some sort off delay on it which there isn’t. So am wondering if anyone has any suggestions to why this is happening and how to stop it from happening? Any help would be great will try and attach a quick video showing what I mean by the sound and a photo of the front of my 2i2 and amp incase I have a setting wrong, also it plays the same through headphones plugged in to the 2i2 and when recorded so can’t record anything at the moment. 3. Hi all, So have recently started getting back in to playing/learning to play the guitar again after a fairly long break, did have lessons for a few years in my early teens. Am currently using fender play to learn from and really enjoying it, I am hoping to get proper 1 on 1 lessons at some point but can’t afford them at the moment and not currently having a driving license whilst living in a small village doesn’t help. But my main question for now is there a proper way to hold a plectrum on fender play they say inbertween the thumb and first finger (first pic) which I can do but seem to always go back to holding it between my thumb and first and second finger (second pic) which I think was how I was taught whilst I was younger. Or does it even matter that much I have a tendency to take things that don’t matter and over think them and then end up anxious about it and at some times the anxiety will stop me from doing what I wanted in the first place. So really trying to just work out if there’s a right way and if so what way it is so I can put it behind me and move on and continue in enjoying learning the guitar, I know it might all sound stupid but unfortunately it is one way my anxiety effects me and what I can do day by day. Thanks ps excuse the pj’s lol
  4. Hey all so I just love throwing myself in the deep end, so with absolutely no real experience at all I'm looking to build a kit flying V. Buuuut I am not just intending on doing your basic kit build, where's the fun (pain, stress, misery) in that?! I've bought my own pickups, Seymour Duncan humbucker set (SH4-JB and SH2-N) and I also brought some sheets of diamond pattern metal...my intention is to use the supplied plastic pickguard as a template to cut a new pickguard. The main colour is going to be a distressed, dirty sort of grey and then I'm going to look at getting the metal all dirty and patina'd as well. Really it's not that original, just saw the Schecter V1 Apocalypse
  5. Hi all, I have just tried to change my guitar strings and removed the original strings, its a les paul copy 2 epiphone, and the 'bridge' (not too sure if thats the correct word) is completely loose and can slip right out. I will insert pictures. And another piece can also come out. I wasnt sure whether or not to tighten it in case it wasnt right to do so. As I'm sure it is obvious from the title and lack of knowledge that I'm a beginner so please don't judge lol! XD
  6. Hi all, well isn't this new site cool? All it's missing is the beginner guitar thread. Well, here it is! I'm a bassist that writes music, which means writing guitar parts, and my current thin-stringer just isn't comfortable, or very good sounding. So I'm after something nice and fairly well rounded, suited for writing/recording sparkly cleans and heavy rock/metal stuff. I doubt it'll ever leave the house, so it doesn't have to be the nicest looking or sturdiest thing. What would you lot suggest? The budget of £400 isn't set in stone, don't mind spending slightly over but would be nice to spend less. Also, to spice things up, I have flirted with the idea of a seven string guitar (to match my 5/6 string basses), so suggestions in that realm would also be appreciated. Cheers in advance, Kieron
