Hmm, interesting. New projects have certainly dictated a perusal, and often purchase, of new gear. However, these choices have rarely been dictated by genre/audience expectation, more by something I feel was missing in the gear at the time. Having said that, one band I was in was a rockabilly inspired outfit. I initially did this with a couple of PRS’s and a Tech21 Trademark 60 and then a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, which were more than adequate, but as we went along I started to look at hollowbodies and eventually ended up with a Gretsch, Bigsby equipped hollowbody and a Fender ‘59 Bassman reissue. This was not influenced by the look, but by the tone. Nothing sounded better for the music we were playing and started my love of hollowbody guitars fitted with Bigsby trems. My dream guitar would be a Gretsch 6120, but I can’t justify the cost, thus my current Epiphone, main squeeze.

The replacement pickup market is huge. I suppose the biggest players are Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio but there are many others. I recently fitted a pair of Artec P90s to my Casino Coupé, I’ve been blown away by how good they are and they only cost £30 for the pair! Previously, I’ve been a DiMarzio fan boy as I love their products and I have found their customer support to be exemplary. Here’s a link to a parts supplier I have used recently who supply a good range of pickups https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/pickups/?_bc_fsnf=1

I assume that the pickups are a 4 wire hookup to allow ‘splitting’.

Of course there is the BC thread dedicated to this very subject https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/434753-i-want-a-cheap-telecaster/#comments

It begins... It's very fiddly and the instructions aren't the clearest, so I'm going to take my time and do some more another day.

Squier Affinity is a safe bet and Harley Benton T types are super cheap. However, if you could stretch that budget just a bit, you could get a Squier Classic Vibe 50s or 60s and they are quality instruments that would see you right for ages (I’ve had mine years).

Kitchen worktop (I hate them).

Kit arrived today. I was hoping that I might be able to stretch the build over a few days, but it looks very much like a one session affair. I’ll start tomorrow.

Given that we're going to be spending at least a month indoors and that my outside pursuit of chasing a small white ball around the countryside with a bag of sticks has been curtailed, I've decided to build myself a Fuzz Face clone. I love Eric Johnson's singing lead tone and have only recently realised that the main component of this is a Fuzz Face (all the EJ anoraks go, "Yeah, duh!") so this could be fun. I'll post photos and more details when it arrives, having only just pulled the trigger on this https://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/Fuzz_Face/p847124_4240480.aspx

Really nice chorus pedal that. I had one back in the day, proper lush chorus. GLWTS.

OK. THAT'S BLOODY LOVELY! GLWTS.

Which to let go, Fender Twin Amp or Roland JC120
ezbass replied to jazzyvee's topic in Amps and Cabs
If it’s the weight of the Twin that’s the only issue, I’d be inclined to sell both and buy a Fender Tone Master Twin. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/190603344423008--fender-tone-master-twin-reverb-amp -
4 guitars and 4 basses at chez Ez. Bass is my primary instrument, so they’re the expensive axes.

Not sure what you mean there as my strumming comes mostly from my wrist, so it’s all quite flicky I guess. Whatever works for you is best, but try and avoid excessive tension in the hand and arm, as this can lead to fatigue and a somewhat robotic feeling.
-
I’m glad that helped and it sounds fine to me. I don’t think I count when I strum, but I may have back in the dim and distant past when I started, I just don’t remember. However, I probably do it unconsciously by tapping my foot or nodding my head.
-
I haven’t watched the video but for a good reason - I’m going to suggest something and don’t want to be swayed by what you might or might not be doing. I think a great way to devise a strumming pattern is to just play a one note, one bass string rhythm pattern and then recreate that pattern as a strum.

A prime example of why you should check your posts, especially regarding autocorrect, before hitting save/share. See 2nd comment (taken from FB)...

Ooh, interesting. I’ll need to fire up the big machine and get the headphones on for this. Jensens used to be my go to speakers when swapping out. The Jensen, alnico blue backs in my old ‘59 Bassman reissue were lovely.

Changed the course of guitar playing in a way few others have. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-54443394

I had one of those, it was very nice. I can’t remember why I sold it now.

Ooh, have you seen this? https://www.reddit.com/r/audio/comments/50l4s1/help_how_do_you_get_your_behringer_uphoria_um2_to/d9df868/

Have you tried the combination input on the left, Mic/Line1?
-
Beats me. I don’t how the Behringer works, but I’d have thought there’d be some sort of level indicator so you can set the gain. Therefore, I’d suggest that the fault lies either with the guitar, lead or interface input, but I could be way off base.
