  1. I don’t know much about acoustic guitars really, I tend to buy to my budget and get what sounds best for what I’m trying achieve. For big strummy type things I like my Epi J200, for finger style, my Simon & Patrick Rosewood Folk Pro fits the bill. As you seem to wanting to spend a decent amount, I’m going to throw Lowden into the mix only because I like how Richard Thompson sounds, both finger style and flat picking.
  2. I knew that, Lady Ez is a very green fingered person and some of it rubs off (well, sometimes), we even had a broom a couple of homes ago, IIRC. ‘Fiat make brooms now?’ I thought was funny - YMMV. Back OT, that’s a cracking colour. Just when you thought the tartan was bold; Boom! That’ll get you get you noticed.
  3. I think, that is what Billy Connolly would describe as, “Füc£in’ YELLOW!” It’s going to be awesome; I like it.
  4. Great intro post. Another Casino owner and inveterate tinkerer here. It’d be great to see some photos of your guitars, especially those that you’ve modded. Here’s my modded Casino Coupé: Artec pickups (so much better than the Epi ones); Bigsby; new knobs; new truss rod cover and headstock decal.
  5. Ah, fished me in. I was just about to post, “Boo!”
  6. Very minimalist, I applaud that.
  7. Drop Anderton’s a line and ask them. I’ve found them them extremely helpful with sort of thing. https://www.andertons.co.uk/fender-fe620-electric-guitar-gig-bag-price-tbc-0991512406?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&gclid=Cj0KCQiAst2BBhDJARIsAGo2ldWQ5NOKd5yMH1GP8SCfPoQH0_ZcWZSGEjEwkX_6tDb1h38hEhV9LM4aAgeMEALw_wcB
  8. Now I think that would’ve been great as it’s my favourite musical era. I clearly remember seeing Duran Duran on TOTP with Planet Earth and thinking that we’re going to be huge. Then there was hearing Simple Minds for the first time (I know the first 2 albums were ‘79, but it wasn’t until ‘84 that I discovered them) and early U2.
  9. At a guess, I’d say connect the white wire from the pickup to the tag with the red wire coming off of it.
  10. Always like the feel of the Kahler over the other systems; good choice.
  11. Ooh, good thinking. This is a DIY product that's available all over the place. https://www.rainx.co.uk/rain-x-products/rain‑x-windscreen-repair-kit/
  12. That’s not good, or right. Name and shame (both Thomann andUPS) on the socials until they rectify the issue. Welcome, BTW.
  13. Hmm, seems unlikely. Only one way to tell.
  14. I remember when the 5:25 first came out, the reviewers were all raving about it, it sounded ace in demos as I recall. Hang onto to that bad boy, now Gibson have their claws into Mesa, there’s a good chance it’ll be like a pre CBS Fender.
  15. As a teenager, my drummer buddy kept his kit at my flat (the neighbours loved me). For a time I think I was a good of a drummer as he was. These days, I’m as good as every audience member who thinks they can play.
  16. Another one ‘hops the fence’; welcome. Love that Strat.
  17. Hi Lucas and welcome. Best motivation I have found is a new band/project, although given the current situation we find ourselves in, this will prove difficult. However, there is another motivational route that I have almost as effective and sometimes even better - a new guitar! Or a new amp, pedal, whatever. Preferably something quite different to anything you currently have, the difference will make approach things from another angle.
  18. Blues Saraceno, I remember him and the guitar.
  19. OK, I’m going to be following this. Bring it on. I really like that body shape.
  20. I understand that learning good manicure technique is important (only filing in one direction, etc) and using quality files (Andy Summers uses a diamond one IIRC). Using clear coat nail varnish and building up the layers should help. I think I read somewhere that a renowned fingerstyle player uses stick on nails. I try to grow mine, but they tend to flake (I don’t do any of the above) and I’m not keen on the sound of them on bass, so they stay short like @Skinnyman’s.
