  1. Ooh, gear to be bought, that's what we like to hear (I live vicariously through the purchases of others ).
  2. The connections may look OK, but it may have a dry joint or the switch has failed (why changing strings would accentuate this is beyond me). Do you still get the classic in between sound on position 2, or is it just the same as position 3 (middle pickup soloed)? Either way, resoldering the connections from the bridge pickup won't hurt and may solve the problem).
  3. You wait until you’ve had it a few months and it starts to open up tonally, I know mine did. Oh yeah,
  4. I have an itch for an LP junior, SG junior, etc. With the price of the HBs, it’s hard to resist just pulling the trigger.
  5. This place is lousy with bass players, we need to get the fumigators in, that’ll sort them ou... oh hang on (checks own username), er, welcome .
  6. I'm a huge Peter Gabriel fan and if there is one track that is my 'favourite song of all time', this would be it. When I was asked to play bass and be part of a collaboration to create a lockdown version of this track, I didn't need to be asked twice. I'm immensely proud of this and it was an honour to work with so many talented folk (please check the description and the end credits). For a short time, I get to be Tony Levin (one of my bass heroes), complete with hammy, deep bass, vocal part.
  7. The only experience I have of any of that list is Focusrite; I have a Solo. I recently did a collaborative effort where I played bass and I used my Sadowsky preamp pedal into Tech21 bass amp sim DIed into the Focusrite. The results were very, very pleasing.
  8. @hardkase, looking forward to seeing some photos of your gear, especially the new stuff when you acquire it.
  9. I’ve just seen a couple of @PAPADON’s posts and the answer is lots of nice stuff! Welcome BTW

    Tele Tastic!

Absolutely loving that G&L The background isn’t too shabby either.
  11. Ooh, tasty Gretsch @PAPADON.
  12. Les Paul was a massive advocate of low impedance, which led to the eye sore that was the Recording Model. Weird that the opinion of one of the electric guitar’s pioneers didn’t seem to catch on with the guitar playing public. Zakk Wylde also used active pickups back with Ozzy and Pride & Glory (he may well still do so, I don’t know).
  13. I think I heard Dreamboat Annie for the first time in ‘76, to be more specific the track Magic Man. It was on the radio in Spain and both my dad and went, “Wow! Who is that?” The first Boston album would be up there too.
  14. I’m not an MAB fan, but that is some sweet sweep picking, Sir.
  15. I’ve not used that one, but it looks similar to what they use in many guitar shops.
  16. I’m sure that between Joe and Billy Gibbons, they own half the World’s guitar stock.
  17. There has been a VW interview getting some traction on Basschat (unsurprisingly), I assume it’s the same one. I should take some time to listen to it. Amongst other things, there is talk of mismatched socks apparently.
  18. Interestingly enough, I think one’s significant other is often the person who voices what we’re really thinking inside. Lady Ez, often raises an eyebrow when I get GASsy, but when it’s something worth having, she’s very supportive. When I fell in love with the tone of Rob Allen basses, I heard nothing but positive comments, although the price of a new one gave her pause (and me too if I’m honest). Fortunately, a pre owned became available and the deal was done. To this day, it’s the one bass/guitar I’m not ‘allowed’ to sell. She was also there when I bought my EJ200, which was just as well as the ‘full fat’ Gibson J200 was lovely (common sense prevailed).
  19. I admire your restraint. Yes they take batteries. My one uses the large, flat, tablet like batteries that they use in car key remotes these days, they just slot into the control panel of the preamp.
  20. I could be wrong, but I think Fishman are the market leaders in acoustic pickup technology. I’m absolutely sure a Fishman equipped EJ200 will as good, if not better, than the Shadow equivalent.
  21. Mine has the Shadow esonic system. Both Shadow and Fishman are well respected systems (Fishman are better known), I wouldn’t imagine the difference would be something you couldn’t compensate for with amp eq. TBH I rarely plug my EJ200 in, but I remember being impressed with it amplified in the shop.
  22. Complete with facial expressions I hope. I do like a bit of JW. As old as it is, the opening chords of Turn To Stone still make me want to turn up the radio.
