  2. This seems only appropriate as it seems a popular subject on BC. I'll start: Eric Johnson Robben Ford Steve Morse Brian Setzer Tuck Andress Mark Knopfler (at least the first 3 DS albums anyway). I've also recently been listening to a lot of Richie Kotzen, but I can't add him (yet) as he might be just this week's 'must listen to' player.

  3. Hi all, If anyone remembers the old usenet days of the internet then you might have come across me in the uk.music.guitar newsgroup. This GuitarChat forum looks like it might be a successor to the good old chats we had on UKMG way back in the days BF (Before Facebook). Been playing guitar for yonks, bought and sold more gear than is good for me, or anyone else, and just happy to chat about anything guitar related. I'm in the Heart of Scotland, Perth.

  7. Hello, I came here from theFretboard.co.uk because I thought it would be cool to be part of the famous basschat.co.uk. Well, nice to be here!

  8. I very much doubt there’d be a noticeable, if any, tone difference - just an easier life for you!

  9. Highly regarded pre-amp. As new, bar the velcro. If you're reading this you know what it is - but just in case... A quality germanium preamp with high class transformer - "The unique way in which the circuit saturates and colours your signal can be used to produce biting clean boosts, subtly coloured and thickened signals with a frayed-at-the-edge quality or – when pushed – an individual sounding overdrive with a fuzzy, fried texture.BC-24V-LTD takes this classic transformer-coupled, discrete Class-A germanium circuit, this time running internally at 24 volts from a standard 9 volt supply. The increased voltage gives extra headroom and a tighter low end – fantastic if you are looking for a little less saturation and grit, but without losing that unique sound of the Broadcast. The BC-24V-LTD also features a three position gain switch offering MID-LOW-HIGH modes. LOW mode, the pedal has most headroom and stays nearly clean across its range, whilst retaining colouration from its germanium circuit and transformer – perfect if you use higher output pickups, baritone, bass or keyboards . The MID mode is voiced to sound and behave as the regular Broadcast – still pretty clean but adding more grit and saturation to the mix. In HIGH mode, as with the regular Broadcast, the BC-24V-LTD heads into overdrive, distortion and fuzz but with a slightly tighter low end. Maximum gain in HIGH mode can be adjusted to taste, using the internal trimmer."

  15. If your'e considering preowned instruments then you might be able to get a Mexican tele or strat for around or slightly over the £400 mark. New I'd be looking at the usual Squiers and Epiphones but also at lower end Yamaha Pacificas and Revstars, but most of the bigger manufacturers such as Jackson and Ibanez all have models in that price range these days.
