New here well New to Guitars at 54 years old, was Gifted a ME952 first act, I poked around with it still learning though well found BexGears Kits well pulled a trigger on a Telecaster I call Swamp Thing (a tribute to those actors/actresses and crew members of the 1982 Original movie), I dyed, painted and assembled.. yes yes the kits although I am the "FNG, NOOB, CHERRY" I have a few friends whom play They are impressed with the playability of the kits, more so how more and more are becoming "CHERRY, NOOB, FNG" friendly with the plug n play systems with NO soldering needed. If asked Telecaster or Stratocaster I will play both, some odd reason the tele is my "Zen"

Always good to see a Tele in my opinion.

In an attempt to gain some genuine insight (as well as to stir up a discussion that no side can win), I am interested in how people use and get good sounds out of a Stratocaster... I love a strat, for me they embody the epitome of guitar design, sleek and still look space age after all this time. All my favourite players played strats and coaxed amazing tones out of them. BUT, I have had (genuinely no lie) more than 40 strats of various makes in the 35 years that I have been playing, 10 Fender USA, 7 Mex, 6 Squier and 11 MIJ Fender and a splattering of other makes (Gordon Smith, Greco, Aria etc). I lust after strats all the time but cannot make them work for me musically. I can make a telecaster work in almost every situation I am in, but not a strat (hence my building my own tele in a strat hardtail body). I always find the neck pickup too muddy, the bridge pickup too thin and shrill, so I stay on the middle pickup for the most part but keep catching it with my plectrum. I have tried out every make I could find on after market pickups and wiring looms to no avail. The only strats I can get to work for me to some degree are single humbucker strats in the vein of EVH, when I play rock orientated stuff, but even that isn't really my style for the most part, they don't have the snap that I like. I have had dozens of amps (a lot of different era Fenders to be fair, with some Roland, Peavey and Marshall) and effects units, preamps into PA, software amp modelling etc but always the same issues however I try to tweak it. I feel like the strat is like the Emperor's New Clothes... so many players seem to love them and use them but they just don't work for me. I know that I am the common denominator here and it is something about my style and how I approach it, but really... what am I missing?

Just about finished my telecaster build from parts. Waiting on a jack plate one i bought was wrong size. I will no doubt fiddle with intonation feels sounds ok atm, neck relief is set at the heel so will play around and then make adjustments when i change strings. Bridge sitting high but action is low. Pickups are Custom shop Texas Special Switch gear and bots, pick guard from Axesrus Body and neck i bought from ebay Fender tuners, fender neck plate. Wd Bridge (pretty sure its WD) I chucked some Slinkys on it. Messing around with a bit of rhythm "sympathy for the devil" and i like it, twang and then some. Will see how it bends and stuff later.

Something tele`s me I will be learning more and sharing some.

Good morning, @tele-strat owner, and ... ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.

I'm loving this all. For years I've wanted something very much like that for plugging in headphones or hooking up to the PC at home. I've not bought anything as yet because I'm not really interested in most of the potential they have - years ago, I bought a Vox Valvetronix (still got it). The original, blue cloth one, size of an AC30, 2x12. Thing is I only ever used one amp model, and I don't bother with the built in effects. Something like this, though, I might be more inclined towards as at that price, as long as the sound I want is good, it doesn't matter so much more of it is "wasted"....

Does anybody know what this chord is called? Im having trouble playing it, i wanna search it up on YT to see if i actually play it right. Its in E Standard.

Looks like B Major to me.

Have a look here, maybe..? A common 'standard' wiring joins the middle two solder tabs, and uses the two outer tabs as 'hot' and 'ground', giving a twin-coil 'humbucker' effect. Hope this helps. Douglas
