  1. I used Crimson guitars stain on my tele body. I stained the top and then did the roundover on the top before the clear finish to give a faux binding. I'm not sure how the stain will work with the burl on your body, I would be worried about ending up with a patchy colouring as the different sections of burl absorb different amounts of stain. Andy

  2. Yep, Luthier Warehouse. Should turn my old Squier hack into something a bit unique! It's very nice in the flesh. Working up the courage to use my smaller router to round over the edges. Then it needs some filler on some natural voids. I have Northern Guitars blue denim stain on a bass. It worked really well, so might try their red stain. Nitro lacquer was really hard work, so an oil or wax finish is tempting.

  3. Might be something to do with using headphones, but you'll always have some sort of pick/finger attack, but it can be reduced. The way I achieve that really 'singing', violin tone (Eric Johnson is my go to guy for this tone), is by using a fuzz face style fuzz. With what you have, you might get closer by cranking up your distortion pedal into your already gain driven amp and then rolling the tone off at the guitar until you get where you want it to be. In short, more knob tweaking. If you place your compressor after the distortion (not the 'normal' way, I know) you might be able to set it up to add sustain without emphasising the note attack. Happy tweaking.

  4. Nice!.. I'm from a small town, (burton upon Trent). In the town canter they are not many hot spots for busking, but I've only seen people busk in the same spot with an acoustic. I was planning to take my SPARK amp as its great for jamming with backing tracks and connectivity via Bluetooth. I've seen a nice BOSS amp that's in my budget for busking, but i'd like something that could at least have an AUX connection or a Bluetooth connection driven amp.
