Distinctive Sound

Recommended Posts

Which guitarists would you say have the most distinctive sound? Recently, I was playing one of those "Heardle" games, where 1" of a song intro gets played and you have to guess the song and artist. If you can't or get it wrong, 2" gets played and so on. I didn't recognise the song but almost immediately recognised Tony Iommi's guitar playing.

Geordie Walker of Killing Joke comes to mind straight away. Not heard anyone else with his style and tone.

Nile Rodgers has a very recognisable sound as well that's very hard to copy just right.

There have been quite a few songs I've heard on the radio, in recent years and I've thought "that sounds like Nile Rodgers" and been right.

for me it's Brian May. Utterly unique tone

Of course, how could I forget BM? Many, many years ago, Lonnie Donegan released an album with various guitar players guesting on it. You didn’t need to check the sleeve notes to see which track BM was on.
