  1. As above,    folk pop in but the  ''long term''  isn't like on Basschat,  my opinion is that there are enough guitar sites to satisfy already,  which for this site is a shame,  what if i said that if only the bass players from next door are the dominant force here,  then though we have a guitar, it would be an  ''as well as'',   so the need to be here is less,  and the bespoke guitar players are already catered for as per my first line.   Its the lack of activity that makes it unnecessary to visit more.   As a matter of interest i'm a member of a Ford site,   and that site is using the exact setup software as here and B/chat,  which makes it easy for me to get around,  that's not over used either.      I have a new custom built guitar which the bass players here might find interesting,  i'll make an effort to upload something soon.

Good call. However, if you do want to spend a good amount and with the chance of wanting to change in the future, the Tele will be a potentially easier sale if you do want to try something else.

I agree with that, i bought a Gibson Nighthawk to leave tuned OpenE,  800 quid, near mint, should get most of  my money back one day.

  3. Hi Gav,  and welcome,  i play bass, but have also been making efforts to get back to a six stringer, have sold my Les Paul and Burns, and am having a custom build 52mm nut solid body  electric built, a neck wide enough to get my  useless fingers into,  i still have a lesson once a month, and will get some tuition for the new build when its done.  So, your'e ahead of me already.

I haven’t bought one in years, but I used to. Like most of this type of magazine, eventually they start to circle and repeat themselves. Of them all, I think I preferred Guitarist.

Yes, I buy Guitarist on an intermittent level, and try to play some of the blues licks that they have inside.  I subscribe to  Bass guitar magazine  though even if some months it's a bit of a waste. Actually,  I don't read books anymore really so mags are more my thing, ok, I like the pictures of what's available.

  5. Finger picking huh ?,    as a bass player I keep my finger nails  really short,    so I use a plectrum when I "play" a guitar    are you usin your nails to pick the strings ?, sort of flamenco style? .  And no,  I don't have a clue what songs to recommend,  sorry.

  6.   Hi Wylie,    so do you have a six string guitar  at all ?   I've sold my lemon Les Paul and Burns Steer as the flippin strings on a typical  43mm nut are so close, simply can't play a normal electric  guitar any more. Over on BC there's a member,  (Simo) who is an excellent  luthier,  mainly does basses, I have a 32" scale lined and fretless of his which is wonderful.   He's about to start  a 52mm nutted job for me with 9mm string spacing, bass is 10mm,  simple  solid body with individual string bridges, custom pick-ups and my choice of  timbers.  I'm mainly bass but like a good howl now and again.

You won't get the bending without exceptionally strong fingers. But the tone--nothing like it, for my money.

Wow !,   activity on this site,  thank-you so much.  Cunning  plan no. 53,   I'm having a custom made  guitar built,  a fairly simple  designed  solid body job, but with a 52mm  nut / wide neck to get my bass playing  fingers in.  So like the basses I wanted flatwounds,   but don't know if  they should be 9's  or  10's  or  11's,  the lighter ones might be the starting point,  would they all sound the same though ?, ignoring the  "bending".
