  2. I wondered what this thread was about initially as fun bags are what an old friend of mine used to call bobbies 🤣. However, back on topic, black seems to the rather dull standard option, as you have found. But, digging a little deeper, I found these 2 links, although I don’t know if they’ll be too big: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Glenmi-Bohemian-Acoustic-Backpack-Protector/dp/B07LCN53YT/ref=asc_df_B07LCN53YT/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=256001072850&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1165433688170745420&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046984&hvtargid=pla-719976734370&psc=1 https://www.wish.com/product/5bab4b3dd89e577dda95f246?from_ad=goog_shopping&_display_country_code=GB&_force_currency_code=GBP&pid=googleadwords_int&c={campaignId}&ad_cid=5bab4b3dd89e577dda95f246&ad_cc=GB&ad_curr=GBP&ad_price=20.00&campaign_id=8163884845&guest=true&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4ImEBhDFARIsAGOTMj-ZPiBhvbG0UlDLKZdP0NHtLhAyfMOhmaenD_RVjvSuhUB7CoXURwwaAiclEALw_wcB&hide_login_modal=true&share=mobileweb
  3. Hi all, I can’t play guitar but my son (6yrs) is starting lessons with his half size acoustic one. I need to buy him a case and because he’s so new to it, the case will make a big difference to how he feels about learning and playing it. He loves bright (often quite “girly”) colours and patterns, but I can only find black gig bags or fairly horrible brash single-coloured nylon ones. I can find loads of fun ones with graphic or folky patterns for ukeleles (like these ones: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223990871782 ) Does anyone know if fun bags for 1/2 size guitars exist, and if so, how to get hold of one? Thanks very much!

  5. One of my favourite basses was a Dano '63, with a (most likely) plywood frame and a Masonite top / bottom. I think historically the frame was poplar but modern Danos have a plywood core/frame. I don't know much about Masonite, but it seems like it would be quite green and sustainable in the same way that ply is!

  7. Exactly, it has to match the profile of the fingerboard, in order to clamp each string to the fret. It's only a slight difference, but it's best to get the right one for the job.
  8. Hi everyone, New Backing Track online! This time I tried to make the guitar part less fulfilled, so there is more space for soloing. In a more "angry" style this time  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ko0lxyF0Ro Feel free to share your thoughts on this BT and to share your jams! Happy jamming! Alex
  9. Thanks for this, it's really helpful! I ordered a trigger-style one which should be arriving today so I'm interested in having a go! You mention curved / flat ones. Is that referring to the "top" bit which would fret the strings?
  10. Hi folks! I'm having a bit of a clear out. As you'll see in the pics, some are a bit scuffed and tatty, and others are in good nick. Some have their original boxes, others don't. Some have Mooer pedal toppers for easier stomping (easily removed). Most have velcro on the back. But all work perfectly! No trades. Bank transfer preferred (I'll provide bank details in private message). All prices include postage within the UK. For price outside UK, please message me. Cheers! 11. I'd recommend a 'trigger'-style capo, for its consistent efficiency, ease of use and solidity. Here's four, from Amazon; cheap enough to try out, with a slightly more expensive option... Amazon Trigger Capos ... Our Eldest uses these (or ones like 'em...), fitting one for the intro of 'Under The Bridge' before whipping it off for the rest of the song. Our Second Guitar uses one, too, to match the singer's choice of key. They all have rubber 'jaws', and do no harm at all to the guitar neck. Hope this helps. Edit : Note the difference in shape between a 'flat' one (for nylon, classical, flamenco guitars with flat fingerboard...) and 'curved' (for electric, archtop, radiused fingerboards...) and buy accordingly. The rubber jaw will accommodate any slight difference in curveture, normally.
  12. There are all sorts, from a plastic bar with elastic, up to ones that you can roll on without affecting tuning (apparently). The teeth you speak of are probably just contoured rubber and just look different. For the most part, it’s find an action/mechanism you like. I use a Shubb that you have to set the pressure with a screw and then apply that pressure with a lever, I find this type of one works better for me as I can set how hard the strings are held down, rather than a constant, unadjustable spring pressure. If you use a capo on a number of different guitars with varying neck thicknesses, a simpler ‘one touch’ action may be for you.
  13. Hi guys, I'm very slowly working my way through Fender Play's blues track. Upcoming (and optional) lessons involve using a capo. Beginner question: Are all capos pretty much the same? Looking at images, some look to have "teeth" to better grip the neck but the last thing I'd want to do is buy one that's a bit on the tight site and it chews into the fat neck of my 339. I'm sure there are branded ones for like £30 or whatever, but otherwise are run-of-the-mill £10-ish ones all much the same? Is there such thing as a "bad" capo? Cheers!

  15. Now that’s what I mean! Helpful, insightful and just the kind of self-justification I was looking for! 😁
  16. There you go! I've quit the pretending. I either know I will or know I won't, and if the item falls into the 'will' category I know that any internal debate/struggle is just some kind of mental fabrication to make me feel bad for wanting something, and just wastes time. The only real questions I ask myself now are 'can I afford it?', 'do I mind losing a few quid if it doesn't pan out and I move it on?', and 'have I got the space?'.... anything else is just noise. What the 'it won't make you play better' folks always miss is that every different instrument is full of different riffs and licks, and once discovered, you still have them in your arsenal whether on that instrument or on an instrument you've had around for years.... You're not buying a new guitar, you're exploring new approaches.😎
  17. Well, inevitably, I will. But where’s the fun in just giving in without at least the semblance of a struggle? 😁 And I think I’ve worked it out and the (visual) attraction seems to be the fact that’s it’s an unbound neck. My local guitar shop has just reopened and they’re a PRS dealer so I’ll go in and see if I can have a noodle on one. The risk being that I’ll end up with the rather lovely but much more expensive satin Vela S2 that they have in stock.
  18. I don't like it. Note to @Skinnyman : see how easy that was?

  21. Best of luck Skinz. Fortunately it's a problem I don't have, because unless they've changed their policy since I last looked, PRS don't make lefties. Seriously, get a grip man. Think of the children; and the third world; and, umm, the polar ice cap. Then give yourself a sound thrashing with a wet fish. Better make it two just to be sure... Might work, might not. Frankly, who cares: it'll make great viewing. p.s. Hope this helps.
  22. Hi folks, This is a great guitar that sounds fantastic whether you use the Variax modelling features or not. I'm only selling as I prefer the feel of Les Paul style guitars. It's in great condition with just a few small marks here and there (shown in pictures). It's updated with the latest firmware, and comes with various bits and pieces: the original case, cables, battery (which holds its charge well) and battery charging kit. I also put chrome Schaller strap locks on. If you don't want them, I've kept the original strap buttons so you can easily put them back in (see pic). But if you want to use them, I've included a padded guitar strap with the locking mechanisms you'll need. The £550 price includes shipping (tracked and insured). I'll take the cost of this off if you would prefer to collect from me (I'm in Swindon, Wiltshire) or meet halfway at a reasonable distance, e.g. Bristol, Reading. No trades. Bank transfer preferred (I'll provide bank details in private message). "This beautiful guitar, designed by master luthier James Tyler, is fitted with Variax modelling technology allowing it to emulate the sounds of other instruments thanks to Line 6's extensive modelling capabilities. This well-crafted guitar can be used as normal or with the additional Variax technology and is perfect for live performances or studio sessions. The neck shape is designed for easy playability and the neck joint provides absolute access to the upper frets. The pickups have been designed by Tyler himself with the humbucker in the bridge complementing the vintage-style single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions. They're all loaded with alnico magnets and wound to Tyler's precise specifications. The custom Tremolo bridge is designed for superior tuning stability and smooth vibrato action as is the premium guitar nut. The long lasting, rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers at least 12 hours of play and LED indicators let you know how long you have left.
