Gretsch Dorado 6025 1970s Natural | Reverb This was 4 years ago
-
I had a quick look and you'll probably get less than £60 for the Gretsch. Maybe hold on to it for sentimental value (unless you don't like your mum )
-
My mum bought me this classical guitar in 1971. Label inside soundhole reads: "Dorado by Gretsch. Model 6025. Made in Japan". I played it for a couple of years, and it's been in careful storage ever since. It's totally original. Even including original strings! Excellent condition with just a couple of thumbnail marks on the front. I unpacked it today and it was still almost in tune. Amazing. I play bass now, and I'm considering selling the Gretsch. See photo. I've done some internet research, but can't find this model for sale in this superb condition. Any thoughts, please?

Thanks everybody. Internet advice seems to be to forget about on-board electrics at this price. I'm only thinking about easy chord strumming at home at this stage, so electrics can wait - maybe add later with a soundhole pickup. I have a 1971 Gretsch 6025 classical guitar here. Might sell it. Might not - my mum bought it for me....

I missed the electro bit Yamaha Music London do the FX310A for £235

A good shout-out for the F310, but be aware that it is an acoustic guitar. If you want an electro-acoustic, Yamaha offer the FX400, but at a higher price (£255 from Thomann, for instance...). Do you really need the 'electro' part, though..? For 'playing out', it's very useful, but for home use, the only real advantage is for recording, and even then, it's not the same sound as using an external mic. Your call, of course. The other makers cited are very good, too, especially second-hand, where one may get a better instrument, if there's enough knowledge to judge the instrument offered. Hope this helps.

Yep, you won't go wrong with a Yamaha F-310. It's long been considered one of the best (and best value) acoustic guitars for beginners. I've had one for about 20 years and still play it.

I always reckon you can’t go wrong with a Yamaha, their gear always punches way above its price point.

I've been playing bass for 20 years. I'm starting to think about buying a half-decent (electro) acoustic guitar for strumming along to some simple songs. I've done some research, and Yamaha F310 keeps cropping up. Plenty on ebay for under £100. This seems pretty cheap to me - are they any good? I'd happily spend up to £200, and I'd happily consider used. Any other makes to consider? Tanglewood? Takamine??

Hello legends, we're an independent plugin maker from the Manchester. Recently launched our first plugin (Spice Saturation) so sharing it with the great people of this forum! https://www.audio-legends.com/product-page/spice-saturation Why would I bother with another saturation plugin you might ask? Well, this one has auto-gain compensation, filtering, analog warmth, added manual gain trims and other control features all packed into one plugin. Not to mention the slick UI. It sounds awesome on guitars and it's only £5.99 Audio samples & product demo available in the product page link above. More samples & demos are available on our socials too. A good day for common sense, for a change and, as always, a good day for the lawyers.

Oh, I always have my reading glasses to hand. I find it impossible to resist another accessory.... (plus I have one pair of distance glasses and two pairs of reading glasses for the price of a single pair with varifocals, which I firmly resisted despite (or more likely because of) the optician trying to give it the hard sell.

https://guitarbomb.com/klon-lawsuit-dismissed-bill-finnegan-behringers-zentara-overdrive And so it's all done.... the case has been dropped, "with prejudice" (i.e. they're not allowed to reopen it at any later stage), and no money changing hands. Ironically, the rare version of the pedal is now likely to be the Centara labelled phase, as Behringer recently started labelling them the Zentara, with a Z. I wonder if those will be worth anything in future, what with many buyers hoping to land a future collectable seeking out the first, Centaur labelled, run. Decent result, overall... Behringer have (very cheaply) further refined legal precedent on the limits to how far they can copy something that's no longer in production. It'll be interesting to see if the Klon people attempt to bring out a new line of "the real thing". As a postscript, Youtuber KDH (who is being credited at breaking this story which everyone else seems to have missed) flags that the AI search facility on Google denies that this happened. Now *there's* a bubble that can't burst fast enough.

Stupid Question of the Week: Mooer Baby Bomb and Cabinet - what cable?
Kiwi replied to EdwardMarlowe's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yes to both, not helped by intermittent focus in my eyesight and a reluctance to take my reading glasses everywhere in case it brings on mid life crisis. -

Hi there and welcome. Guitar fora have certainly changed/evolved over the last few decades.

Thanks both, much appreciated. @Dad3353 - I discovered Ohmmage when look at hifi... I'm not the most technical of people and it still blows my mind a bit, but that's helpful to know! I do plan, though, to stick to just the one speaker to keep the noise down - if I ever have a house where I can go louder, I'll be looking at a "proper" amp. Mind you, it's impressive what you can get in a pedal form factor these days. Once they get past an inherently conservative generation of guitar players, I wouldn't be wholly surprised to see fewer and fewer bands using traditional maps on stage (save rich ones with roadies and a 'look' to maintain, of course...).

I concur with the advice above : one speaker cable with a 1/4 mono jack at each end is all that's required. It can be plugged into either of the cab sockets; these are doubled up to give the option of linking to a second cab, if desired. This is called 'daisy-chaining'. Probably moot in your case, but one should be aware that the total impedance of cabs connected in this way must not be below the minimum impedance of the amp. Two 8Ohm cabs connected in this 'daisy-chain' fashion would present a 4Ohm load to the amp. If the amp supports this, all well and good. If not, expect costly 'magic smoke'. The 'Baby Bomb' pedal amp, for instance, will not support two such cabs (the output socket is labelled : 8-16 Ohms...), but your single cab should be fine. Ignore, then, the second cab socket. Hope this helps.
