  2. I concur with the advice above : one speaker cable with a 1/4 mono jack at each end is all that's required. It can be plugged into either of the cab sockets; these are doubled up to give the option of linking to a second cab, if desired. This is called 'daisy-chaining'. Probably moot in your case, but one should be aware that the total impedance of cabs connected in this way must not be below the minimum impedance of the amp. Two 8Ohm cabs connected in this 'daisy-chain' fashion would present a 4Ohm load to the amp. If the amp supports this, all well and good. If not, expect costly 'magic smoke'. The 'Baby Bomb' pedal amp, for instance, will not support two such cabs (the output socket is labelled : 8-16 Ohms...), but your single cab should be fine. Ignore, then, the second cab socket. Hope this helps.
  3. IIRC the two jack sockets are for if you are hooking up another cab (I could be way off base here and I’m more than happy to be corrected by those who know better/for sure). However, just plug the micro amp into either socket, you’ll be fine.
  4. So... I have a Mooer Baby Bomb pedal power amp (which I'll be using alongside a Joyo American Sound and a reverb pedal). The plan is to pick up a speaker I can for using with this at home. I do already have a Vox 2x12" cab which might well get sold owing to it being probably too much for home use in a small flat; also looking at one of the Vintage 1x10"s. Both flavour have these two sockets in the back for speaker input: For reference, the BabyBomb has this, single output jack: What sort of cable do I need to connect this to the socket on the pedal? I can find lots of quarter-inch jack speaker cables for sale online, but they all have one lead at both ends. Does that make a speaker with two sockets unsuitable, or do I just use one of the input holes on the speaker, or....? All steer gratefully received. I've only ever used a combo amp before (the 2x12 came in a deal as a matching price with my Vox AD120VT, but I've never used it as the Vox itself is more than loud enough on the 1 watt setting...).

  8. Greetings, Iain.
  9. Good evening, @Iain Douglas, and ... ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  10. Pleased to be here and look forward to ‘ ‘meeting’ you all in the virtual world. It’s been a LONG time since I bothered with a guitar forum, I used to be on ‘Guitar Voice’ years ago but upon perusing it now it looks nothing like it did. This seems an interesting place and being an old rocker will hopefully meet like minded folk cheers for taking the time to read

  12. Any recommendations for a bag for a Faith parlour guitar. The bag that came with it is not what it was 12 years ago. I could buy another, but just seeking real world experience. A Mono one would be lovely but that would be silly money for this paericular guitar. Thanks.
  13. I released a new single this morning - you can hear it here, if you like:
  14. For electric, there's all the obvious Harley Benton options. I'd suggest, unless he has a strong preference otherwise, something F oriented rather than G style for sheer durability's sake if it's gonig to be lying around a shared space here it might get knocked over... For acoustic... there the price difference will be much more noticeable, though all the same imo there are a lot of very decent acoustic out there at the budget end, especially if you're willing to spend as high as £300. Sigma are Martin's Squier, in effect, so might be worth considering from that pov. I've long been a big fan of Tanglewood acoustics, and the Vintage brand have some very nice acoustics around the £300 mark. May be some sale bargains there if the brand are being wound down. Just a thought, though... Might be worth considering something a little left field here. A very decent, single-cone resonator can be had for £500. That's something different than the Martin when he comes home, and a brass or steel bodied resonator might just prove a lot more durable in some comedian at a dorm party thinks they're John Belushi. Not exactly a 'silent practice' option, but nor is any other acoustic really.
  15. I bought an Xotic XW1 wah about 7 years ago and now Paul Jackson Jr and Steve Lukather are using them. Very versatile wah but they do take up a bit of space. If you are looking for just classic tones and smaller foot print then a mini Crybaby is the default option.
  16. Acoustic? There's quite a drop off in quality within your price bracket. The necks are less reliable, the guitars aren't set up properly, frets need levelling, the woods are dried too quickly and can warp as they really season. I would suggest bumping the price up a little and go second hand. That way any faults are easier to spot. I have a soft spot for Yamahas as they are usually pretty reliable but Alvarez, Guild and Taylor are also worth considering.
  17. Guitar & Music Book Stand COMBINIATION SMG1 – Music Bits Company I've never used this company. I just found it after doing a Google search, so you might want to research them, if you were to buy from them. I'd say it would probably cost you nearly as much to modify an existing music stand, if not more, than it would to buy one. I'm not sure what a "combiniation" is.
  18. My eldest is off to Uni next week, staying in Halls. His guitars at home are 50th Anniversary Strat and a Martin Dreadnought. He can’t take his electric and I’d prefer it if he doesn’t take the Martin. It’s his Birthday in a couple of weeks so I’m going to get him either and acoustic or an electric acoustic and a mini amp to take with him. What used guitars could I get, sub £500, that would come close to playing like the Martin?
  19. I have joined a group of 20 guitarists who get together just to have fun. The room we are in isn't the biggest and what with music stands and guitar stands and amps the floor is quite congested. I was thinking of modifying my music stand to accomodate a guitar stand so it would just be a 1 piece of kit. Has anyone tried this? If so what pros cons did you come across.
  20. I bought a Crybaby about thirty years ago. Like a lot of my pedals I've never seriously used it (I've somewhat moved away from anything more than the odd bit of Tremolo, echo/verb, and decent drive options. Still can't bring myself to get rid of any of my other pedals just in case, though.... and I'm still a bit tempted by that Joyo... they do nice pedals. I picked up an American Sound last year to use with a head phone pedal and a Mosky Baby Bomb 30w pedal format power amp. Very nice pedal for a silly low outlay. That looks interesting - how durable is it? I remember being tempted by a Dano one that looked like an old Cadillac, but it was a plastic body that made me leery. I looked at Vox back in 1995. Nearly bought one, but the Crybaby was significantly cheaper and I wasn't sold on the difference between them. I paid £75, if memory serves, for the Crybaby, while the Vox was £100 - those in 1995 prices, which would in real terms be twice that now. Looks like Vox, like a lot of players, have made it cheaper over time.
  21. Damn...I've got a 2nd-hand Behringer arriving this week! Fingers crossed I don't end up with the same experience - might try the Joyo if the Hellbabe turns out to be a dud. (Thanks for that suggestion)
  22. I’m a huge fan of Behringer, but I sent my Hellbabe straight back. Unfortunately it seemed to suffer every malady that got brought up in all the bad reviews. A real shame. I ended up with a Joyo pedal and it’s really good. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B085PXY3L2
  23. That looks like a great solution. Might have to try that myself.
  24. I played a lot with this VOX, I find that it's just a perfect all around wah: https://clickfi.re/BokCdfPI
  25. Though judging by its name, and the sheer range of additional controls up the side, can I assume this is Behringer's attempt to clone the Ibanez Weeping Daemon? ('cause if so, colour me very, very interested...)
  26. Have you looked into... https://www.submarinepickup.com/collections/frontpage/products/the-submarine Haven't tried these myself, but I have seen fingerstyle guitarists with far more expensive versions of this solution! The idea is that you can position this to pick up your bottom two strings, and send that signal out to a bass amp or suitable effect/preamp/etc.
  27. Big fan of your plant-based milk alternatives. Welcome to the forum!
