dewayne Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Got a guitar playing friend who will choose picks to buy by bouncing it on counter on its edge and listen for that magic, "thonk" or whatever the sound is that "chosen" picks make. Anyone else do this? Quote
ezbass Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Not me, I’ve just tried a whole bunch over the years. I think any audible tonal quality perceived by bouncing a pick will be negated once held. However, if it works for your friend as a selection process, then it’s good for them. We all have our own ‘things’. Quote
dewayne Posted January 9, 2025 Author Posted January 9, 2025 He also has been known to use one from buffalo hoof. Looks like warren Haynes plays like Steve gaines...... Hey am I a poet and not aware of it? Quote
Kiwi Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Mine have to be big, triangular and 0.50mm. Nothing else works. Quote
