Ah jeez, showing my age and ignorance here but how the hell do these work?
I get that they are emulating speakers & cabs via EQ settings but how do you load them in and use them?
Thanks in advance!
What are you loading them into?

Who has 2 thumbs, and is a guitarist who prefers Basschat to the majority of muso forums..?
This guy..!
I'm excited by this, and hopeful it'll get me participating again.

I'm learning to play guitar (again) but have decided to stick with the acoustic for now. If I were to get into metal guitar again I would certainly look at Black Sabbath - Paranoid, Iron Man etc. Could be wrong, but they sound like they'd be descent learning songs. Then again, they might be well harder than they sound!
Yeah, those tunes are pretty easy from what I remember. Looking at something with a bit more too it than those though (and more modern to fit my personal tastes ofcourse)

Running a Kemper / Helix / AxeFX / Headrush / or other such Amp Modeler / Pre-amp?
Why not discuss them here?
I'm running an old POD HD500X for both bass & guitar, I've owned various Line6 units for quite some time, from a POD v2.0, to a PODxt, and a PODxt Live. I'd love to get my hands on to a Helix, but I'd need to sell a kidney or something.
What you got?
A Helix AND two kidneys

I'm just curious really, are they as usable on guitar as they are on bass? I've seen a few floating around but not a great deal. I'm guessing they could wreak havoc with chord shapes?
Is there as much benefit in fanned frets on guitar (or more?) vs the effect on bass?

Anything decent to get my teeth into?
Almost like a learning path is what I need haha. Learn this song, once you've got that one down give this one a shot etc..
I like a bit of killswitch engage, slipknot etc (keeping it purposefully vague) -

Hi, I thought I'd start a thread for discussion and sharing Cab IR's. Obviously I'm not suggesting we should share anything other than those which are freely available.
So Cab IR's. The latest digital witchcraft in helping us chase the holy grail of tone or just another con? To my ears, there's no doubt at all that changing a Cab IR in a patch on my unit can makee a massive change to the tone and overall sound of the patch. But..... is it really a Marshall 1960x/Mesa/Fender/Ampeg can with an SM57/SM58 on/offcentre - well I have no idea as I've never had the ability to try all the millions of possibilities and options that now exist. To me, if it sounds good, sounds as you want it to, then it's the right thing to use. Accuracy of 'modelling' doesn't really matter to me. Much like the whole amp modelling debate. Oh, I use a Mooer GE200 which I think is extraordinarily good value for money. It's Amp Sims are as good as I need, it's small and really simple to programe and it takes Cab IRs. What's not to like?
Anyway, here's a link to a load of Cab IR's I've collected over the years - fill your boots!
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Vyly3Doh4F3_x2xN4VnpvjnqlRrnR4msBrilliant! Cheers! Might have a play with loading these into my Helix

They are - but for guitarists, they are kinda overkill because guitars don't need to the low end response and headroom of those cabs. The 712A and 732A is a good match for guitars - you can probably argue that you don't even need the 3" horn too.
But more is... more
Mind you I'm also considering all of this from a multiuse perspective (I play keys too! ) -
All FRFR cabs are guitar cabs
Theyre also bass cabs, PAs etc. Thats the beauty of them!
The RCF 735/745 are reviewing well at the moment!

H'mm. Can't embed an image ... yet.
How odd.
You should be able too via the upload function.
We're waiting for tech support to resolve the embedding of online images, it's because of the move over to HTTPS -
Going to be the first to say it, John Petrucci. Not just for the shredfest type stuff but he really does have some beautiful playing at times too

Are there any brands/models worth looking at for wider string spacing? I've played a few in the past I've felt much more comfortable with but I have no idea what they were anymore!
Gwee'targh!!!
