The Classic Vibe series is sort of Squire's premium guitars I guess. I suspect you might need to change the pick ups if you want to use them on stage. Apart from that they're pretty solid

There are a few things which are not getting cheaper though. I guess most guitars are made by machines now, and that the biggest difference between a low priced guitar and a premium is in type of wood, pick ups and things like that. I'm starting to go down the path of picking up more reasonably priced guitars myself. I have a couple of premium guitars, I would never pay that much for premium versions of some of the guitars I'm getting now though. Also, lower priced guitars are sometimes excellent for modding, not sure if it will save me money, I can at least mod it to my own specs though

I've noticed that you get get some really decent guitars for less than you would consider worth getting a few decades ago. I recall not considering anything priced less than 800 pounds worth getting back at the end of the 80's. Now, it seems that you can get guitars with same build quality as premium guitars for less than 500 pounds. And better made than some of the more expensive made guitars from the 80's as well

I try to look for something else that DiMarzio pick ups. I know more or less what a DiMarzio pick up sounds like, and I know that I like how a DiMarzio pick up sounds. I feel like all my guitars would end up sounding more or less similiar if I keep putting DiMarzio pick ups in them though

Having played it a bit more since last post, I have to say this is a really fun guitar to play. It's not a shredding machine, and as a lead guitar it doesn't stand out as much. As a rhythm guitar though, it's f'n awesome! It sounds great with everything from a little crunch to hooked up with a high gain amp. I think it's actually the best guitar I own right now for playing fast metal riffs, every note played sounds clear and the riffs doesn't get mushy no matter how fast you play. It's got this twangy, almost percussive quality to it when played through a high gain amp, which can be fixed easily with a channel strip if you want a more conventional metal sound

I got my Squire Jaguar delivered today, together with a Jazzmaster I haven't gotten around to play yet, both Classic Vibes models. I've been interested in these classic models, but not in paying for Fenders First impression is that the build quality is excellent. It's much heavier than I'm used to, and the neck much narrower than I'm used to. The tuners seems to hold up well. The pick ups seems to have a slight phase issue, I don't know if it's intentionally or not, I like it though, it works for me. It's got this vibrato system which is new to me, used moderately it seems to work fine. I haven't tried to dive bomb the strings yet. Lots of knobs on this guitar, I haven't quite figured what all of them are used for yet, I guess I need to get on the internet at some point. It didn't take long to get used to, and the neck is really easy to play, bending notes is really easy as well, thanks to the floating vibrato I guess. All in all a lot of guitar for the money in my opinion. I might change the pick ups at some point though. Not my guitar in the photo, same model and colour though. Surf Green!

I found some BigBend Fret Board Juice I've forgotten I had, I guess I could use that? I used to use something that was almost like a stick on the fretboards of my guitars back when I was most active

I'm might be a superstrat guy, I'm afraid. The EMG pick ups intrigue me, I'm not familiar with them
