Total Plectrums

  1. Hi all. I picked up a used Epi Les Paul Custom from 2009. However it's got this weird issue where he bridge pickup sounds awful, it has no bass, it's like the mids have been pushed up and the treble is harsh. I've done the usual pickup height etc, but to no avail. Also the neck pickup sounds like slightly louder than the bridge, and I can't get a clean sound on one of my amps, even with the clean channel on. This doesn't happen with any of my other guitars. It's almost as if it's out of phase, but anyway, it's kind of painful to my ears. I've taken out the pickups and can see it's the original Epiphone HOTCH BCH pickup but I've never seen this kind of config in the cavity, where there's this odd kid of white connector in there? Is it possible a solder joint has gone wrong? Also maybe to consider when I'm tuning it up the E and A strings are saying it's in D, but it's definitely in the correct tuning.
