I'm a step ahead/behind all of you. Crap on bass and even worse on guitar.

Sounds good, I like experimenting!

If I for some reason wanted to dilute tru-oil, what should I use? (unless it's a totally bad idea)
-
Finally got around to order some tru-oil. I'm getting kind of excited!

This is the same post I've just done on basschat so if you've already read it there, it will seem curiously familiar!
The quality of your work deserves to be seen twice!

I use flats on guitar (and bass) and will never go back to rounds on any instrument. Flats feel good, rounds don't. Each to their own, I guess.

Any flea market/boot sale. A slim chance to find the unexpected and desirable at an affordable price.

Welcome!
Playing and building instruments is a good combo.

Thanks! I'll take a look at tru-oil. I like the sound of silky smooth!

Guthrie Govan ... especially with Steven Wilson. “Hand cannot erase” is such a great album. Has anyone seen the video of the solo from “Regret #9 (I think that’s the one). One take and the look of relief on his face when he finishes!
Indeed! Along with Nick Beggs and Marco Minnemann!

Never tried binding and/or purfling myself but you can't overestimate what it does for the end result!

So many great guitar players…. My pick is Guthrie Govan. Love his playing and can listen to him talk about music all day, every day!

I've never played one, but anything Yamaha is probably a good enough. Flute, guitar, motorcycle or whatever.

I have a cheapo Daphon. Purhased mainly because of the low price. I like it though, truly low-tech with a charm of it's own.

Thanks, Gentlemen!

Haven't decided what to do over the coming winter, but here's a couple of instruments I've messed with so far. The first is a 4/4 cello from ebay. It had a broken neck and the scroll had snapped in half. I also replaced all the black wooden bits with proper ebony and improved the finish slightly. The second is my one and only elctric guitar made from bits purchased on line. Nothing fancy, but it works and I like it!

I'm no expert, but I like how it sounds. Full and crisp. A fully tweaked recording would be interesting.
