I did this on my partscaster years ago -except its 4 switches. I think i actuaĺy inverted the phase on one of them. You can have all the pickups on at the same time or even use 1 & 3, which is impossible on a 5-way. Its a gimmic!

I went Tele, but a used Amp Acadamy came up on ebay so, .... All done .
The end

I just found the link to the stuff they were talking about.

My new Tele is in the mail. First order of business is to oil the neck. Now, this is Indian laurel rather than Rosewood. I was just trawling through youtube and a music store channel was suggesting slightly tinted wax.
Firstly: wax?
Second: tinted?
Now I like the idea of tint since I prefer the reddish tint of rosewood to the grew brown of Laural if it works, but is that an accepted thing? We are probably into French Polishing territory here but I thought I would ask.

My wife wants to buy me something. I don't particularly want anything (it gets in the way of my ambition to be a minimalist one day), but she feels left out if she doesn't. So:
New gold Grover machine heads for my Casino. Just like Lennon, OR
NUX NGS-6 amp academy box, so I can go ampless and feed my tone out to a PA rig.
A cheap tele - because everyone should have one and no one makes unplayable guitars anymore.

The starting point is a Chinese casino that hasn't been played much. One of my problems is the I haven't played years so I decided to start from scratch - including a lot of open chords that I didn't have much time for back then. I can do intonation, truss rods etc, but I have no idea if my nut is the right height. Do I even bother to have a plastic nut adjusted, or should I start with just having it changed?

That looks great. I'm looking at the NUX Amp Academy.

As a bass player I saw guitarists using this stuff decades ago. I have an old can but its dried out. I could get a fresh one and use it but....... Does it actually DO anything? If its just mineral oil couldn't I just use that? What about lemon oil that I use on my fret board?

I started playing in the winter of 1978 and joined a band. I switched to bass early on although I still played 6 string mostly as a writing tool. However, my last performance on guitar was in 2009, with bass lasting another 5 years. I have been mostly playing percussion. A couple of months ago I picked up my old acoustic that I "lent" to my son and found that I had forgotten loads.
So I'm relearning, especially the things I didn't do well the first time, so.. HI

This is either complicated or simple. I'm not sure which.
I used to frequent Basschat, but then I started playing samba percussion (they don't use 4-string basses) and also Cavaquinho. The last time I played guitar was 14 years ago! I've forgotten loads. A few weeks ago I bought an Epiphone casino.
I want to build a pedal board for running direct to a PA that also doubles as my home setup with a headphone jack. I would like to be minimalist with perhaps some kind of overdrive/dirt/tube screamer and a reverb. For acoustic I have an optima air ( a great interface but no amp modeling) and a Sansamp Para DI. Also a great interface but no head phone jack. I can't think of a way to use them.
I could go really old school and just get an XT pod, but was hoping for something lighter and tech has moved on.Or..... I could just get a small amp with a headphone jack.
DIY or pay someone?

I still occasionally play the partscaster I built 40 years ago. I'm confident to do truss rods and set action. I've never paid someone else. On the other hand, how do I know if I've been doing it right?
I've just taken on 2 new guitars: casino (used) and squire tele. I think they could both do with polishing up of the nut slots to make tuning more precise.
I can buy files or take it to a repairer. Thoughts?
