Why Is My Audio Converter Reducing Sound Quality After Conversion?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I have been using an audio converter to change my music files from FLAC to MP3 format, but every time I complete the conversion, the output sounds noticeably worse than the original.

I selected a 320kbps bitrate, which I assumed would maintain decent quality, but the audio still comes out muffled and flat.

Is this a limitation of the MP3 format itself, or am I missing a specific setting in the converter?

Does the software I choose actually make a difference in the final output quality?

Which audio converter do you recommend for lossless or near lossless results?

The 'standard' tool for this sort of stuff is 'Audacity', a free audio player, which does conversion and treatment very well (better than most 'on-line' offers...), where quality can be specified depending on file size wanted. Here's a link; worth trying..? Chum.gif.984c2395ed41edd6b696d0cd386fff8b.gif
