  1. So I'm have been playing through a black Star ID100tvp, it's a great amp and I love it but I'm looking for something a bit more real (tube/valve amps and pedals) The problem is I have no idea where to start, there is so much to choose from, it's a little over whelming. So my question is, what do you recommend is a good start for a tube amp with pedals. For reference I am in a gigging rock/metal band (Sinic) So I like to use something around the 100amps range. I play mostly metal and I take a lot of my influences from Zakk Wylde, Dime bag Darrel, John 5, machine head etc. I have a few pedals (blackstar drive, chorus, delay, gate) the usual suspects. Any help is much appreciated and please check out my band Sinic as well for reference to my sound. https://open.spotify.com/track/7Kj56jBwuvbIjTk29zQTjP?si=Sr4OJHMIQBO8UFuNNZoi4w&utm_source=copy-link
  2. Hello, So basically, I purchased a Carlsbro Sidewinder off ebay for £30. The guy said it had this fault. But I decide that for an all valve british made amp for £30 is still a great deal. So I cleaned all the connections and pots as it had been stood for several years. I plugged it in and worked fantastically for a few hours. I tried it again the next day and after 3 or 4 minutes it goes to an almost inaudible volume with a large amount of hum. So I checked online and saw that it may have been the valves? I bought a known working set and checked to see if it would make a difference. But still have the same problem? So basically I know that it goes quite after a short amount of time and it isn't due to the valves! I have a basic understanding of electronics, but still training on my fault finding. If anyone has anything they could share, that would help so much! Thankyou so much! Jake. (Please find the schematics attached) lo Carlsbro_Sidewinder_Schematic(1).pdf
  3. Hi. I was wondering if any of you guys/girls had any thoughts on the Orange 20w micro terror dark head and the closed back 20w micro dark cab as a compact practice set up? I live in a caravan in the middle of nohweresville and so have to rely on the good old Internet shopping and postman. I've checked out the YouTube vids etc and it sounds OK but real good old honest thoughts by folk not trying to "sell" me one would be nice. Hope someone can guide me with opinions plz. Cheers
