Total Plectrums

  1. Hi all, Here I have my lovely 1964 Gibson ES335 for sale. Not a case queen as it has been played with few modifications and a great player. A little backstory of the guitar. This was my first proper vintage guitar that I bought about 12 years ago from a guy in London. This chap, initially bought it from his mate’s uncle who has owned it from new and was gigging it regularly. The original owner decided to add an additional pickup between the neck and bridge. When the previous owner bought it, he couldn’t stand the sight so got it restored by getting the route filled up and refinished again. The repair can still be seen (see pic) but the luthier tried to cover it as much as he could. Aside from the repair, the guitar still it’s original colour which I think has aged nicely. No headstock repairs and all the parts are in working order. The pickups have been replaced and have sheptones tributes on. The nut has been changed. The two volume pots are original (dated 1964), one tone pot is Mexican and the other one is in-readable. Tuners are original. The neck might have been resprayed at some point but I’m not entirely sure. The frets appear to be original and a little low for the first few frets but still plays great with no dead spots. The new owner may want to to get it re-fretted if wanted but it plays fine the way it is. The brige and tail stop are reproduction. The pickguard is original but it was drilled to make spaces for extra controls from the first owner; the previous owner tried to restore it as much as possible. The guitar has had a Bigsby trem at some point. Comes with an old Epiphone hard case but still functional. Has just been serviced and ready to go. Not the cheapest ES335 but almost the same price as a new Memphis ‘63 ES335 and it definitely is more resonant than my other Memphis ‘63 ES335. Selling as I am trying raise some cash for a mint early 60s ES335. Cash sale for this item please and viewing is highly recommended. I am based in Abingdon. thanks for looking and any questions please ask.
