Hello! I'm mainly a bass player, but I also play a bit of guitar at home. I have a nice CIJ Fender telecaster '72RI thinline and an Eastwood Warren Ellis Tenor guitar which I use for recording.

All these are great suggestions. I'm definitely leaning towards a double bucker, probably LP style. I think I'm just going to have to sit down with an axe or 12 and see which one feels right, I'm never going to be able to choose otherwise! Plus it's a good day out

Although I do like reverb and delay effects, I don't use pedals but instead Daw or Amplitube standard versions. Both of my amps also have delay and reverb effects and they sound decent. I'd like tc electronic reverb pedal and boss delay however.

I really want one of those MXR Reverbs at some point. Their marketing video really REALLY sold me on it. One of the best videos I've seen in this business to be frank. What I love about the Boss units is how feature rich they are. You really can make them sound completely different from patch to patch. The DD-500 has the EQ that can be put in the feedback of the delay, which means you can shape the tone of how the repeats die away and all sorts of things like that. I don't know if anyone already saw this, but I did a deep dive of the Source Audio Ventris reverb pedal here: Fantastic pedal!

I'm going to add to G&L to the list of contenders. The Tribute series are seriously good guitars, pick ups are the same as in the U.S. models, hardware is good and the build quality is high. I have a Fallout and it is a real fave.

Apart from the Boss DD-500 I really like the MXR Reverb, it's the best sounding reverb I have played. The Boss RV-5 is another one of my favourites, which I had been using regularly up until I got the MXR. I would always have the MXR on the plate setting and I took one of the presets on the DD-500 and tweaked it around to my liking. I don't use delay alway the time, but leave reverb on all the time. Sometimes I run RV-5 > DD-500 > MXR Reverb. I got the idea from Devin Townsend and it does give you an absolutely huge sound, even from a small practice amp at home.

You also can't go wrong with an Epiphone Les Paul or SG if you're leaning towards a rock sound. Gordon Smith guitars are great, I have owned a couple of Graduate 60's in the past (single cut LP style guitars). Also maybe look at a second hand PRS SE. Again, I've owned a couple of the Singlecut Soapbars in the past, and they were great guitars, well built, played well & sounded good. Regret selling them.oo. The JHS "Vintage" guitars get a good write up too. The usual advice of "try before you buy" stands up well in this situation though. Take some time out, visit a guitar shop or two (ahem), and try as many as you like. Buy the one that plays, sounds and feels the best to you.

I think your post says it all I personally have no intention to run a separate Composition Challenge here... I think it makes sense for everyone to use the existing one over at basschat.co.uk But if someone wants to set up a guitar-specific challenge then I'm happy to support it.
